Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
(1807-1882)

Henery Wadsworth Longfellow is one of America's most beloved poets and story tellers. A onetime Harvard professor, he had a passion for Native American culture. He wrote extensively about the Indians through their eyes. The best example would be Hiawatha. Also, he brought the new consciousness of the literature of Spain, France, Italy, and especially writings from the German, Nordic, and Icelandic cultures, to America.
