ORCHIS "Trate" Reviews

The compilation of ORCHIS was released by the label Brudenia from Kalinigrad as one of the "Russian series". (Earlier, they have released compilations of THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS "Sing While You Can" and ATTRITION "Esoteria".) But the situation is a bit controversial here. First of all, although this band is fairly well-known among the lovers of dark folk, its fame and value in the musical culture is far from those of ATTRITION, THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS and THE TEAR GARDEN. But who cares? If Brudenia has released this CD, they probably think it necessary. And secondly: here goes my personal opinion. To tell the truth, I have never liked ORCHIS, so I can't assess the compilation adequately and unambiguously, but it seems to me that the sound is closer to psychedelic folk rock mixed with dark folk, the quality of the record is terrible, the performance is even worse - to cut the long story short, the music is very peculiar. And the dessert: the track from the yet unreleased album and two rare track from compilations.
