THE TEAR GARDEN "For Those Who'd Take A Walk With The Gods" Reviews
The label Brudenia from Kaliningrad continues the series of exclusive "Russian" compilations of cult alternative bands. (Earlier, they have released compilations of THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS "Sing While You Can" and ATTRITION "Esoteria".) The Russianness of the compilations are put in inverted commas on purpose - the titles of the albums and the songs are sooner an original feature for the western listener than any kind of promotion to the Russian. Anyway, this unusual approach arouses nothing but deep respect to the creator and ideologist of Brudenia, Vladimir Igoshin, since I'm sure that it's them who make it possible to release the creative works of Russian gothic bands - MOON FAR AWAY, ROMOWE RIKOITO and NEUTRAL. Speaking of the very releases, I'd start from the compilation of THE TEAR GARDEN - the band whose cultness is undoubted. This band is worshipped by both the lovers of SKINNY PUPPY and THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS (since THE TEAR GARDEN is in fact cEvin Key + Edward Ka-Spel), and the major part of the industrial-gothic scene. The compilations presents ten "best" tracks and two previously unreleased songs; everything follows their rule of being psychedelic rock. The funny thing is that if I had had to compile my own "best" of THE TEAR GARDEN, I would have chosen almost all of the tracks of the compilation! To tell the truth, I was rather disappointed by the bonus tracks, imho they are less impressive than the rest of the album.
PS. Limited edition: 2,000 CDs.
