Purple Fog Side, electronic music project, appeared in 1996 (before that, since 1992, it was known as Overcry), in the city of Samara. The only standing member, ideologist, author and musician is Jazztiz (Paul Zolin, born in 1976). At first PFS was a field for all sorts of musical experiments based on electronic school of the early eighties (Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schultze, Kraftwerk). In 1996 Purple Fog Side published the first solo MC album "Fog City Saga", the material was rather mixed, but the main accent was stressed on gothic/industrial with new age and rock elements. Carried away by classical ambient, isolating himself from the rest of the music stream, practically independent from different musical styles of that time, Jazztiz in 1997 discovered dark ambient by recording and publishing in the net a mini-album, Blood of The Rainbow (three songs and a remix), then he turned to IDM and consequently bore a style known as darkwave. Singles that were released in the net, 1997-1998, Purple Yundah, Next Station Purple Hell, Cantus Of Suffering became the "base" of PFS style. In 1998, Jazztiz invites guest musicians: Natalie Bondareva (vocals), Olga Schelokova (vocals) and Paul Zimmerman (guitar). Thanks to them, a debut CD (Roon) was accomplished. It was the first serious work of conception, of the project. In 1999 Paul Zimmerman and Natalie left PFS, Jazztiz in desperate attempts to re-establish the so-called "PFS Atmosphere" recorded a new dark-ambient single in collaboration with Maria Yarys. The single was titled "Cursed Land" and was devoted to the war in Yugoslavia. Then there were some series of musical experiments, from noise to ritual pagan music. In the eve of the new millennium he began working on the new Russian song album; its working title is "New Rituals of Northern Russia".
